Madhabdev University is a public state university located in Narayanpur, Assam. The university is established by The Assam Act No. XXXV of 2017 which was passed by the Government of Assam on 7 September 2017. It was created by upgrading Madhavdev College of Narayanpur, North Lakhimpur. fgftgdfgdg

It was named after Sri Sri Madhavdev, an important preceptor of the Ekasarana Dharma known for his loyalty to his guru, Srimanta Sankardev.

The Madhabdev University Sociology Department offers a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) designed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This multidisciplinary curriculum focuses on conceptual learning, critical social analysis, and skill development, providing students with multiple entry and exit options.
The programme spans eight semesters (4 years) with a total of 174 credits for an Honours/Research degree.
Certificate in Sociology: Awarded after successfully completing 1 year (2 semesters) and securing 40 credits (plus a 4-credit vocational/internship course during the summer).
Diploma in Sociology: Awarded after 2 years (4 semesters) with 80 credits.
Bachelor’s Degree (Major): Awarded after 3 years (6 semesters) with 128 credits.
Bachelor’s Degree with Honours/Research: Awarded after 4 years (8 semesters). Students with 75% or higher marks in the first six semesters can opt for the "Honours with Research" track.
Admission Eligibility
Requirement: Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Minimum Marks: Typically a minimum of 55% aggregate is required for Major in Sociology, though this may vary based on university notification for the specific academic year.
